"How improbable and how splendid... a world class destination restaurant on a country road in Maine!  I still remember that first dish the week Arrows opened, house cured prosciutto and impeccably grilled vegetables.  Now twenty years and literally hundreds of fantastic dishes later, I ponder how fortunate I have been to join Clark and Mark on this incredible and delicious journey."

Arrows 20th Anniversary Dinner (1988-2008)
Sunday, June 29th, 2008

Celebrate 20 years of "garden to table" with a "farmers market" of hors d'oeuvres, 20 featured wines, dinner in the garden and dancing under the stars.

6:00 pm $145 per person
Reservations recommended

To celebrate 20 years of great food and beautiful dining, Mark and Clark are throwing a party.  Guests will enjoy a farmers market in the spectacular Arrows garden.  There will be demonstrations of cheese making, the art of charcuterie and, of course, an opportunity to try the delicious results of these demonstrations. There will be a garden cart of appetizers made of specialty produce from the garden as well as opportunities to have the benefit of food from our smoker and outdoor barbeque.

Guests will also enjoy superb wines from 20 of the nations most celebrated wineries, with many of the winemakers present to discuss the actual making of the wines.  After our celebrity guests kick off the evening, guests will dine under the stars and enjoy even more of Arrows fine cuisine.  Following dinner there will be hand cranked ice cream from our extensive ice cream sundae bar.   Continuing the festivities, dancing will begin after dessert.

It's going to be a great party so we hope to see you there!

After twenty years, how do Mark and Clark feel that Arrows has changed and in what ways has the restaurant remained the same?

"When Mark and I first opened Arrows we envisioned a stylish, casual brasserie style restaurant.  We were both heavily influenced in our vision by our work for Jeremiah Tower at Stars in San Francisco.  But Arrows and the 18th colonial farmhouse had different plans....Everything about the setting of Arrows whispered rustic elegance and romance.  Our guests were looking for a special evening of dining not just dropping in for something to eat after a show.  So Arrows "organically evolved" into the elegant dining destination that it is today.  Over the years the plank floors and post and beam construction remained but the entire infrastructure was replaced, hand crafted chairs were built to our specifications, china was designed and brought in from all over the world for the restaurant, silver and crystal replaced glass and stainless, the kitchen was spectacularly remolded and temperature controlled wine rooms were added.  Outside the gardens were continually enhanced and the vegetable garden was created.  Every year more things are done to enhance the property and to make Arrows a unique experience for our guest but the beauty of the building and setting remain the same."
